| The Bison Ranch at Frio Canyon is a 2500 acre working ranch located in the southern part of the beautiful Texas Hill Country near Leakey, TX. The heart of the operation is a herd of North American Bison, a species once threatened with extinction at the end of the 19th century. Today, more than 250,000 of these magnificent animals roam across the country primarily on private lands. Our herd consists of 60 grown animals, swelling to over 100 animals during the calving season.
In addition to the bison, several types of exotics can be found on the ranch including axis & fallow deer, blackbuck antelope, barbados & auodad sheep. The hills, valleys, and canyons offer a variety of environments, meeting the needs of the exotic and native species.
